How do YOU thank your golf tournament players?

Creating a memorable moment during or after the tournament is a surefire way to increase player retention in your tournament year after year. But how do you create a unique moment? It’s simple….a QR Code and a video. Simply create a “Thank You” video and upload it to YouTube.

A QR code is a simple barcode that is free to create and can be linked to anything on the web. These are easily read by anyone who owns a smartphone and has a barcode scanning app. According to Nielsen in 2012, 50.4% of all U.S. cell phone owners had smartphones!

For charity events - someone in need is going to receive the proceeds. This person(s) I am sure would love to be able to reach every player effectively and easily to Thank them for their help. In today’s digital age, camera shyness is a thing of the past and finding a volunteer to record a short 30 second clip should be easy. If a beneficiary isn’t willing to come forward, then hopefully an executive from the foundation or the tournament director would get in front of the camera.

For business outings - this is the perfect opportunity to thank your clients (again, probably) for their years of business with you. Entertaining potential clients? This will blow them away! Step in front of the camera and record a 30 second clip with whatever you wish to say to them.
The video doesn’t have to be fancy. Below is a QR code you can scan to see that I did it using my iPhone while typing this. Super easy!

QR codes are free to create and can be used for any website address. To generate one for the “YouTube thank you” video you uploaded, I recommend this site: http://qrcode.kaywa.com/  (Kaywa started with mobile tagging in 2005 and popularized the QR Code in the West)

OK…that’s great and all but how do they see this video?

GREAT question, glad you asked! A strategically placed QR code on the golf tournament gift will allow this “video thank you” to directly target your players. Now, what golf tournament gift should that QR code be printed on? Any item with a flat surface will do. Some good suggestions are:
